A search for massive neutrinos has been made in the decay $\pi\rightarrow e^+ \nu$. No evidence was found for extra peaks in the positron energy spectrum indicative of pion decays involving massive neutrinos ($\pi\rightarrow e^+ \nu_h$). Upper limits (90 \% C.L.) on the neutrino mixing matrix element $|U_{ei}|^2$ in the neutrino mass region 60--135 MeV/$c^2$ were set, which are %representing an order of magnitude improvement over previous results.

  1. Heavy neutral leptons from light scalar in fixed target and forward search experiments

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

SHiP and FPF@FCC-hh are projected to extend experimental sensitivity to a light scalar mixing with the Higgs and to long-lived heavy neutrinos in a B-L seesaw model, with SHiP strongest for scalar masses around 0.5-1 GeV.

  2. Searches for heavy neutral lepton decays at spallation neutron sources

    hep-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 5.0

Current and future COHERENT detectors at the SNS can set competitive limits on HNL–neutrino mixings through pion/muon DAR production and in-detector e+e− decays, with muon mixing offering the strongest near-term reach.

  3. Forward Searches for Heavy Neutrinos and $Z'$ Bosons at FCC-hh

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Projections indicate the FPF at FCC-hh can extend reach for light long-lived heavy neutrinos and Z' bosons in chiral U(1) models beyond existing experiments via meson decays and bremsstrahlung.

  4. Probing Dynamical Inverse Seesaw with Low-frequency Gravitational Waves

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Dynamical inverse seesaw predicts low-frequency stochastic GW signals from a first-order phase transition, with complementarity to heavy neutral lepton searches at small active-sterile mixing.

  5. Long-lived sterile neutrinos from axionlike particles at the Super Tau-Charm Facility

    hep-ph 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 4.0

STCF can reach |V_eN|^2 values one to two orders of magnitude below current bounds for heavy neutral leptons via displaced-vertex searches from ALP decays in D-meson production.
