The effective action of a (1+2)-dimensional defect is obtained as an expansion in powers of the thickness.Considering non-straight solutions as the zero order term, the corrections to the Nambu action are found to depend on the curvature scalar and on the gaussian curvature .

  1. Effective Strings in QED$_3$

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

In QED3 with m^2 << T, the confining string has a constant width ~1/m up to exponentially long lengths, plus calculable quantum corrections to its energy and scattering.

  2. Effective Actions for Domain Wall Dynamics

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The effective action for domain walls, including higher-curvature corrections and a bound-state coupling to worldsheet curvature, is derived from the scalar field theory and matched to lattice simulations.
