We review numerical simulations of MHD turbulence. The last decade has witnessed fundamental advances both in the technical capabilities of direct numerical simulation, and in our understanding of key physical processes. Magnetic fields tap directly into the free energy sources in a sufficiently ionized gas. The result is that adverse angular velocity and adverse temperature gradients, not the classical angular momentum and entropy gradients, destabilize laminar and stratified flow. This has profound consequences for astrophysical accretion flows, and has opened the door to a new era of numerical simulation experiments.}

  1. AGN star dynamics under the Influence of Outflow-Ambient Interactions

    astro-ph.GA 2025-05 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

    Stellar outflows in AGN disks can create a head-wind structure whose gravity accelerates the star forward (anti-friction), driving outward migration and potentially trapping stellar-mass black holes at equilibrium radii.

  2. Revisiting the Perseus Cluster III: Role of Aspherical Explosions on its Chemical Composition and Extension to Metal-Poor Stars and Galaxies

    astro-ph.GA 2026-02 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

    Jet-driven aspherical explosions improve fits to Perseus Cluster abundances and are necessary to explain zinc enrichment and other elemental trends in galactic stars and chemical evolution models.
