abstract

In this note we prove an identity that equates the elliptic genus partition function of a supersymmetric sigma model on the N-fold symmetric product $M^N/S_N$ of a manifold M to the partition function of a second quantized string theory on the space $M \times S^1$. The generating function of these elliptic genera is shown to be (almost) an automorphic form for O(3,2,Z). In the context of D-brane dynamics, this result gives a precise computation of the free energy of a gas of D-strings inside a higher-dimensional brane.

  1. The Resolved Elliptic Genus and the D1-D5 CFT

    hep-th 2026-03 unverdicted novelty 8.0 of 10

The resolved elliptic genus refines the supersymmetry index for the D1-D5 CFT by summing only over symmetry sectors that mix under a deformed supercharge, yielding agreement with supergravity below the black-hole thre...

  2. Covering space maps for $n$-point functions with three long twists

    hep-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Explicit covering-space maps for three long twists plus any number of twist-2 operators are constructed, yielding closed-form four- and five-point bare twist correlators in the ΔN=1,2 cases.

  3. M\"obius randomness in the Hartle-Hawking state

    hep-th 2025-05 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

The Hartle-Hawking state for toroidal quantum cosmologies is expressed in the Langlands decomposition as a sum over zeta zeros whose near-singularity dynamics follow the Hilbert-Pólya Hamiltonian and as a Möbius avera...

  4. Symmetric Product Orbifold Universality and the Mirage of an Emergent Spacetime

    hep-th 2025-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Symmetric product orbifolds have large-N thermal correlators identical to BTZ, undercutting the claim that a type III1 von Neumann algebra implies a sharp emergent horizon.

  5. Coupled minimal models revisited II: Constraints from permutation symmetry

    hep-th 2024-12 accept novelty 7.0 of 10

For coupled large-m minimal models with N=5,6,7, every permutation-charged current below spin 10 acquires an anomalous dimension, so the IR fixed points show no extended chiral algebra in that range.

  6. Vershik-Kerov in higher times

    hep-th 2024-12 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

The limit shape in the double-elliptic generalization of the Vershik-Kerov problem is governed by a genus two algebraic curve.

  7. Fortuity beyond counting: an explicit construction

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Explicit construction of BPS states in (h,j)=(1,0) sector of D1D5 CFT shows non-vanishing three-point coupling between monotone and fortuitous states, indicating the sectors are dynamically connected.

  8. Generating Function of single-centered Black Hole Index in CHL Models

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

Constructs generating function for single-centered black hole index in Z_N CHL models by subtracting two-centered contributions from dyon index using bound state metamorphosis and proves convergence for N=2,3.

  10. Topologically charged BPS microstates in AdS$_3$/CFT$_2$

    hep-th 2024-11 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Modified helicity-trace indices for charged sectors of AdS3/CFT2 produce the Cardy/Bekenstein-Hawking entropy, reproducing Larsen-Martinec in the T^4 case and resolving the earlier HS2 mismatch in half-integer winding...

    hep-th 2024-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

    Sub-AdS scales are mapped to sub-stacks of M < N D-branes, yielding a scale-dependent central charge c(R0) = (R0/L)^{d+q-1} c(L), with consistency checks from small black holes and Dp-brane theories.
