We give necessary criteria for N=1 supersymmetric theories to be in a smoothly confining phase without chiral symmetry breaking and with a dynamically generated superpotential. Using our general arguments we find all such confining SU and Sp theories with a single gauge group and no tree level superpotential.

  1. Anomalies on ALE spaces and phases of gauge theory

    hep-th 2025-12 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

Certain 't Hooft anomalies invisible on compact 4-manifolds become visible on Eguchi–Hanson space, and this new anomaly rules out some proposed infrared composite spectra.

  2. Interior zeros of supersymmetric indices

    hep-th 2026-07 accept novelty 7.0 of 10

Interior zeros of a supersymmetric index exist iff its arithmetic coefficients δ(ν) grow exponentially at rate set by the nearest zero, detectable from finitely many q-series terms.

  3. Truly Confining Supersymmetric Gauge Theories

    hep-th 2025-05 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The authors propose a complete list of seven truly confining supersymmetric gauge theories and show that each exhibits magnetic operator condensation and discrete symmetry breaking, including two new models.

  4. Rank-two tensors and deconfinement in 3d $\mathcal{N}=2$ $SU(N)$ gauge theories

    hep-th 2025-04 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The authors derive confining dualities for 3d SU(N) theories with two antisymmetric tensors (nf+na=4) and for symmetric-tensor theories with monopole superpotentials, using tensor deconfinement and duplication identities.

  5. To Break or Not to Break: A Review of a No-Go Theorem on Chiral Symmetry Breaking in QCD-like Theories

    hep-ph 2025-09 conditional novelty 2.0 of 10

A review showing that if a QCD-like theory with enough massless flavors is fully color-screened in the infrared, then chiral symmetry must be spontaneously broken.
