Imprint of the adjoint meson spectrum in the decay patterns of hidden-bottom tetraquarks

Francesco Knechtli, Juan Andr\'es Urrea-Ni\~no, Michael Peardon, Nora Brambilla, Sipaz Sharma

The decay patterns of hidden-bottom tetraquarks Z_b and Z_b' reflect the degeneracy of the 1-- and 0-+ adjoint mesons within the Born-Oppenheimer Effective Field Theory.

Claims

C1strongest claim

We find first evidence that the suppression of the decay of Z_b' to B B* can be understood in the context of the Born-Oppenheimer Effective Field Theory (BOEFT) by relating the decay patterns to the degeneracy of the 1-- and 0-+ adjoint mesons.

C2weakest assumption

That the Z_b and Z_b' states can be written as superpositions of Z1 and Z2 tetraquark configurations whose associated light degrees of freedom are precisely the 1-- and 0-+ adjoint mesons whose degeneracy is checked by the lattice calculation.

C3one line summary

Lattice QCD calculations indicate degeneracy of 1-- and 0-+ adjoint mesons, supporting a BOEFT explanation for the observed decay suppression in Z_b' relative to Z_b.
