Comment on the paper "On the correlation between the local dark matter and stellar velocities"
read the original abstract
We briefly comment on the paper "On the correlation between the local dark matter and stellar velocities" (Bozorgnia et al. 2018), which purports to test our previous claims regarding the correlation of stellar and dark matter kinematics (Herzog-Arbeitman et al. 2017; Necib et al. 2018). The conclusions of these papers are not accurately presented in Bozorgnia et al. (2018), and we thus clarify them here.

Galactic Amnesia: The Information Washout of the Milky Way Merger History
Mutual information analysis of TNG50 simulations shows gravitational potential and total energy retain merger mass and infall time information longest, while radial velocity loses it within ~5 Gyr, with washout depend...

How to Build an Empirical Speed Distribution for Dark Matter in the Solar Neighborhood
Old and dark-accreted dark matter fits a Maxwell-Boltzmann shape, while recent massive merger debris can be traced by boosted stellar kinematics, yielding a Milky Way speed distribution whose high-speed tail is ~20% s...
