The production of protons, anti-protons, neutrons, deuterons and tritons in minimum bias p+C interactions is studied using a sample of 385 734 inelastic events obtained with the NA49 detector at the CERN SPS at 158 GeV/c beam momentum. The data cover a phase space area ranging from 0 to 1.9 GeV/c in transverse momentum and in Feynman x from -0.80 to 0.95 for protons, from -0.2 to 0.4 for anti-protons and from 0.2 to 0.95 for neutrons. Existing data in the far backward hemisphere are used to extend the coverage for protons and light nuclear fragments into the region of intranuclear cascading. The use of corresponding data sets obtained in hadron-proton collisions with the same detector allows for the detailed analysis and model-independent separation of the three principle components of hadronization in p+C interactions, namely projectile fragmentation, target fragmentation of participant nucleons and intranuclear cascading.

  1. Measurement of the $\bar \nu_\mu-$Hydrogen Charged-Current Quasi-Elastic Cross Section using the NOvA Near Detector

    hep-ex 2026-08 accept novelty 6.0 of 10

    NOvA measures the antineutrino-hydrogen charged-current quasi-elastic cross section as 0.538 +/- 0.055 (flux) x 10^-38 cm^2 at 1.9 GeV, the most precise such measurement.

  2. Measurement of muon (anti-)neutrino charged-current quasielastic-like cross section using off-axis NuMI beam at ICARUS

    hep-ex 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

ICARUS measures flux-averaged differential CCQE-like cross sections in lepton angle, opening angle, and transverse imbalance variables, finding general agreement with event generators but insufficient power to discrim...

  3. Comparisons of triple-differential cross sections for quasielastic-like $\nu_\mu$-hydrocarbon interactions using $\langle E_\nu\rangle \sim$ 3~GeV versus $\sim$ 6~GeV beams in MINERvA

    hep-ex 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

MINERvA compares quasielastic-like cross sections at two neutrino beam energies and finds discrepancies pointing to overestimated final state interactions for protons and pions.
