abstract

The bright BL Lac object TXS 0506+056 is a most likely counterpart of the IceCube neutrino event EHE 170922A. The lack of this redshift prevents a comprehensive understanding of the modeling of the source. We present high signal-to-noise optical spectroscopy, in the range 4100-9000 $\textrm{\AA}$, obtained at the 10.4m Gran Telescopio Canarias. The spectrum is characterized by a power law continuum and is marked by faint interstellar features. In the regions unaffected by these features, we found three very weak (EW $\sim$ 0.1 $\textrm{\AA}$) emission lines that we identify with [O II] 3727 $\textrm{\AA}$, [O III] 5007 $\textrm{\AA}$, and [N II] 6583 $\textrm{\AA}$, yielding the redshift z = 0.3365$\pm$0.0010.

  1. Did IceCube discover Dark Matter around Blazars?

    astro-ph.HE 2024-12 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Sub-GeV dark matter scattering off protons in blazar jets can produce the IceCube neutrino from TXS 0506+056 while evading current dark matter constraints.

  2. Probing Scalar Non-Standard Neutrino Interactions using High-Energy Astrophysical Neutrinos

    hep-ph 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

IceCube astrophysical neutrino data is analyzed for flavor ratios and spectral shapes to constrain scalar non-standard neutrino interactions via induced pseudo-Dirac behavior.

  3. Phenomenology of Neutrino-Dark Matter Interaction in DSNB and AGN

    hep-ph 2024-12 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

Upper limits on the scalar-dark-matter neutrino coupling are derived from DSNB attenuation projected for DUNE/Hyper-K and from IceCube data on NGC 1068 and TXS 0506+056, assuming DM spikes around AGN black holes.

  4. Active Galactic Nuclei as high-energy neutrino sources

    astro-ph.HE 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 2.5 of 10

Review summarizing correlations between astrophysical neutrinos and gamma-ray/radio AGN, specific source associations, proposed production mechanisms, and future prospects.
