Sound from extra dimension: quasinormal modes of thick brane
read the original abstract
In this work, we investigate the quasinormal modes of a thick brane system. Considering the transverse-traceless tensor perturbation of the brane metric, we obtain the Schr\"odinger-like equation of the Kaluza-Klein modes of the tensor perturbation. Then we use the Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin approximation and the asymptotic iteration method to solve this Schr\"odinger-like equation. We also study the numeric evolution of an initial wave packet against the thick brane. The results show that there is a set of discrete quasinormal modes in the thick brane model. These quasinormal modes appear as the decaying massive gravitons for a brane observer. They are characteristic modes of the thick brane and can reflect the structure of the thick brane.

Spectral Butterfly Effect and Resilient Ringdown in Thick Braneworlds
Thick braneworlds feature fragile quasinormal mode spectra due to a butterfly effect but maintain a resilient early ringdown, keeping the standard gravitational wave fingerprint usable.

Quasinormal modes of scalar perturbations in Rastall thick brane
The graviscalar quasinormal mode spectrum and late-time power-law tails of a Rastall thick brane are computed numerically, showing that the Rastall parameter λ controls mode lifetimes and tail exponents.

Real Part Emergence in Purely Imaginary Quasinormal Modes in Perturbed de Sitter Braneworlds
Perturbations on a thick de Sitter brane induce a real part in previously purely imaginary quasinormal modes, creating intermediate oscillatory signatures in time-domain signals while late-time behavior stays zero-mod...

Quasinormal modes of the thick braneworld in $f(T)$ gravity
In a thick braneworld model with f(T) = T + α T², the parameter α induces brane splitting and alters the decay rates of quasinormal modes, with two numerical methods agreeing on the low-overtone spectrum.

Two-scalar-field $f(R)$ Thick Branes, Gravitational Resonances and Quasinormal Modes
In ghost-free two-scalar f(R) thick branes, internal structure produces no narrow real-axis tensor resonances; quasinormal modes are broad with quality factors 0.9-1.9.
