Aspects of string cosmology for critical and non-critical strings are discussed emphasizing the necessity to account for the dilaton dynamics for a proper incorporation of ``large - small" duality. This drastically modifies the intuition one has with Einstein's gravity. For example winding modes, even though contribute to energy density, oppose expansion and if not annihilated will stop the expansion. Moreover we find that the radiation dominated era of the standard cosmology emerges quite naturally in string cosmology. Our analysis of non-critical string cosmology provides a reinterpretation of the (universal cover of the) recently studied two dimensional black hole solution as a conformal realization of cosmological solutions found previously by Mueller.

  1. Non-singular string cosmology via $\alpha^{\prime}$ corrections

    hep-th 2019-09 reject novelty 6.0 of 10

The paper builds non-singular bouncing FLRW solutions in the O(d,d) invariant string cosmology action, but the higher-order coefficients are free inputs and the action consistency is unverified.

  2. Fire at the Tip of the Throat: Hagedorn Phase after brane-antibrane inflation?

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

In perturbatively moduli-stabilized brane-antibrane inflation, a modest fraction of annihilation energy into visible open strings can trigger a Hagedorn phase that suppresses ΔN_eff when the SM throat string scale is ...

  3. Heterotic Black Holes in Duality-Invariant Formalism

    hep-th 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

The work analyzes the dual geometry of charged black holes in a T-duality invariant heterotic string theory in two dimensions and extends a prior non-perturbative solution to multiple abelian gauge fields.

  4. Toward a worldsheet theory of entanglement entropy

    hep-th 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

A new action for entanglement entropy in AdS3/CFT2 derives gravity equations, reduces to a string worldsheet, reproduces bit threads, and unifies several quantum gravity conjectures.

  5. Lectures on Naturalness, String Landscape and Multiverse

    hep-th 2020-08 unverdicted novelty 1.0 of 10

Lecture notes providing a technical introduction to naturalness problems and the string theory landscape for graduate students.
