We construct a four dimensional topological Quantum Field Theory from a modular tensor category. We complete the proof in the case of SU(2)q at a root of unity. Our construction may be important in the physical interpretation of the Chern Simons state in the Ashtekar variables.

  1. Non-Invertible Symmetries Mixing with Witt Non-Trivial Quantum Cellular Automata

    quant-ph 2026-07 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

On a 3+1d cubic lattice, the duality (gauging) and 1-form-SPT-stacking operations generate local automorphisms whose fusion rules match the continuum only up to translations and non-trivial QCAs — semion, 3-fermion, a...

  2. Defects in skein theory and TQFT

    math.QA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

Defines defect skein modules for 3-manifolds with line and point defects and proves they match state spaces of defect Reshetikhin-Turaev TQFT for semisimple data.

  3. From Multipartite Entanglement to TQFT

    hep-th 2026-02 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

Genuine multipartite entanglement of a gapped ground state is conjectured and, for Levin-Wen models, shown to reproduce the TQFT partition function on any 3-manifold.

  4. Les Houches lectures on Spinfoam Path Integrals

    gr-qc 2026-07 accept novelty 2.0 of 10

A pedagogical review of spinfoam path integrals, from 1d quantum mechanics and 2d BF theory through Ponzano-Regge/Turaev-Viro to the 4d EPRL model, accurate but with no new results.

  5. ICTP Lectures on (Non-)Invertible Generalized Symmetries

    hep-th 2023-05 accept novelty 2.0 of 10

Lecture notes explain non-invertible generalized symmetries in QFTs as topological defects arising from stacking with TQFTs and gauging diagonal symmetries, plus their action on charges and the SymTFT framework.
