The coalescence of massive black hole binaries is one of the main sources of low-frequency gravitational radiation that can be detected by LISA. When two galaxies containing massive black holes merge, a binary forms at the center of the new galaxy. We discuss the evolution of the binary after its separation decreases below one parsec. Whether or not stellar dynamical processes can drive the black holes to coalesce depends on the supply of stars that scatter against the binary. We discuss various mechanisms by which this supply can be replenished after the loss cone has been depleted.

Dynamics and detectability of long-lived non-accretion phases for massive black hole binaries in cold, thermally regulating disks
Self-consistent thermal regulation in circumbinary disks permits long-lived non-accretion phases that suppress binary feeding rates toward the Eddington limit while leaving optical/near-IR detectability intact.

\texttt{calypso}: a Parameter-Conditioned Stochastic Surrogate Model for Circumbinary Accretion Time-Series
Calypso is a parameter-conditioned stochastic surrogate model for circumbinary accretion flows using PCA and multivariate Gaussian modeling, released as open-source software with a closed-form likelihood for parameter...

Trails of clouds in binary black holes
Boson clouds around binary black holes generically deplete through orbital resonances, driving eccentricity and spin-orbit tilt toward fixed points—including off-equatorial ones—leaving observable gravitational-wave trails.

Revisiting the picture of circumbinary disc truncation
Cavity truncation in circumbinary discs is set by binary parameters together with instantaneous cavity eccentricity and relative apsidal orientation, yielding a prescription for pericentre radius Rp and semi-major axis acav.

$\textit{BMAD}$-Circumbinary Magnetically Arrested Disks around Stellar or Black Hole Binaries: Hot Accretion Flows, Disk Properties, and Angular Momentum Transfer
Circumbinary accretion disks can enter a magnetically arrested state, and in weakly cooled or adiabatic regimes the resulting magnetic flux eruptions may drive the binary orbit to shrink.

Dark Matter-Independent Orbital Decay Bounds on Ultralight Bosons from OJ287
OJ287 orbital timing excludes ultralight scalar bosons with masses around 0.85 to 2.2 x 10^-21 eV through superradiance-cloud dynamical friction, independent of dark matter assumptions.

Supermassive Binaries in Ultralight Dark Matter Solitons
High-resolution simulations show that a symmetric SMBH binary decays faster in a ULDM soliton than semi-analytic estimates predict, due to soliton pinching, with implications for the final parsec problem and PTA gravi...

Probing the Merger Rates of Supermassive Black Holes and Galaxies with Gravitational Waves
A mock-data forecast shows that roughly forty LISA-detected SMBH merger events, combined with PTA background constraints, can recover galaxy and SMBH merger rates, while twelve events cannot.

A critical look at low-scale cosmological phase transitions in the PTA era
Precision study of dark sector phase transitions finds PTA-favored parameters near EFT breakdown with disfavored GW signals after higher-order corrections.

Beyond general relativity: gravitational waves in non-minimally coupled theories
A generalized propagation parameterization for gravitational-wave strains is extended to O(H²) and O(H′), then mapped to Kalb-Ramond, axion-dilaton–Chern-Simons–Gauss-Bonnet, and U(1) dark-photon models.

Mergers and Recoil in Triple Massive Black Hole Systems from Illustris
Adding three-body dynamics to strong black hole triples in Illustris raises their merger fraction from 40% to 69%, increases total mergers by 4%, and shows GW recoil rather than slingshots dominates ejections under ra...
