We derive a simple form for the propagator of a massless, minimally coupled scalar in a locally de Sitter geometry of arbitrary spacetime dimension. We then employ it to compute the fully renormalized stress tensor at one and two loop orders for a massless, minimally coupled phi^4 theory which is released in Bunch-Davies vacuum at t=0 in co-moving coordinates. In this system the uncertainty principle elevates the scalar above the minimum of its potential, resulting in a phase of super-acceleration. With the non-derivative self-interaction the scalar's breaking of de Sitter invariance becomes observable. It is also worth noting that the weak energy condition is violated on cosmological scales. An interesting subsidiary result is that canceling overlapping divergences in the stress tensor requires a conformal counterterm which has no effect on purely scalar diagrams.

  1. Confronting infrared divergences in de Sitter: loops, logarithms and the stochastic formalism

    hep-th 2025-07 conditional novelty 7.0 of 10

The authors show that loop corrections do not alter tree-level time dependence in de Sitter correlators, so secular growth is a regularization artifact, not a physical effect.

  2. Sensing the Inflationary Production of Scalars

    gr-qc 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Exact 1-loop corrections from matter loops enhance the decay of gravitational wave mode functions after horizon crossing during inflation, with stronger effects from minimally coupled scalars possibly interpreted as a...

  3. Cancellation of one-parameter graviton gauge dependence in the effective scalar field equation in de Sitter

    hep-th 2026-02 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Gauge dependence cancels in the one-loop effective scalar equation in de Sitter when all diagram contributions including external mode corrections are collected.

  4. Graviton propagator in de Sitter space in a simple one-parameter gauge

    gr-qc 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Derives a relatively simple graviton propagator in de Sitter space for a one-parameter family of non-covariant gauges to enable gauge-dependence checks in loop computations.

  5. Quintom Model Perturbations

    astro-ph.CO 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0 of 10

A two-field quintom model reproduces w0waCDM perturbation features and is mildly favored over it in Bayesian fits to BAO, CMB, and SNIa data.
