Miriad is a radio interferometry data-reduction package, designed for taking raw data through to the image analysis stage. The Miriad project, begun in 1988, is now middle-aged. With the wisdom of hindsight, we review design decisions and some of Miriad's characteristics.

Reviewed papers in the Pith corpus that reference this work. Sorted by Pith novelty score.

  1. IXPE Polarizations of the Lighthouse Pulsar, Trail, and Filament

    astro-ph.HE 2026-04 accept novelty 7.0

IXPE detects 55% polarization in the filament with B-field aligned along its axis, orthogonal X-ray and radio polarization in the trail indicating separate lepton populations, and a rotating vector model fit for the pulsar.

  2. IXPE Polarizations of the Lighthouse Pulsar, Trail, and Filament

    astro-ph.HE 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

IXPE detects 55% polarization in the filament with EVPA aligned to the filament axis, implying ordered magnetic field and low turbulence, plus orthogonal X-ray and radio polarization in the trail.

  3. SDSSJ110546.07+145202.4: The first long-duration radio changing-look NLS1 galaxy

    astro-ph.HE 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

SDSSJ110546.07+145202.4 is the first known long-duration radio changing-look NLS1 galaxy whose outburst is explained by an accretion-rate change that triggered a powerful radio jet.

  4. Periodic Radio and X-ray Emission from an Accreting White Dwarf Binary

    astro-ph.HE 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0

ASKAP J174508.9-505149 is classified as an accreting cataclysmic variable white dwarf binary with a 1.3 h orbital period, modulated X-ray emission, and drifting polarized radio bursts.

  5. Discovery of Molecular and Atomic Gas associated with HESS J1646-458 (Westerlund 1): Spatial TeV Gamma-Ray and Interstellar Proton Correspondence

    astro-ph.HE 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Molecular and atomic gas at velocities near -32 and -55 km/s shows spatial correspondence with the TeV gamma-ray shell around Westerlund 1, supporting hadronic cosmic-ray production with total proton energy approximat...

  6. Detection of Diffuse Radio Emission inside the Supernova Remnant G338.3-0.0 associated with the Gamma-ray Source HESS J1640-465

    astro-ph.HE 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0

New MeerKAT images reveal diffuse radio emission inside SNR G338.3-0.0, likely the radio sign of a pulsar wind nebula that may be feeding cosmic-ray electrons into the Galaxy.

  7. The radio flare and multi-wavelength afterglow of the short GRB 231117A: energy injection from a violent shell collision

    astro-ph.HE 2025-08 conditional novelty 6.0

Early radio observations of short GRB 231117A are best explained by a violent collision between two shells in the jet, which injected energy into the afterglow and produced an X-ray flare.

  8. Dust destruction signals shock-accelerated outflows in the nearby active galaxy NGC 1068

    astro-ph.GA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Line ratio diagnostics in NGC 1068 indicate AGN outflows are shock-accelerated, with outflowing gas dust-free and 19-110 times denser than disk gas.

  9. Sub-kpc scale gas density histograms of the nearby barred spiral galaxy M83: Multi-component molecular gas structure reflecting the galactic environment

    astro-ph.GA 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Molecular gas in M83 consists of two log-normal density components, with the high-density component enhanced along spiral arms and more tightly linked to star formation than the low-density component.

  10. The MeerKAT Fornax Survey VII. Characterisation of the Fornax cluster's magnetic field and new insights on magnetisation in large scale systems

    astro-ph.CO 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0

Fornax cluster magnetic field follows a power-law spectrum of slope ~2.7 with central strength ~5 μG scaling as n^1.6, consistent with recent central re-amplification and trends across 17 clusters.

  11. Pinched Magnetic Fields in the High-mass Protocluster W3 IRS5

    astro-ph.GA 2025-08 conditional novelty 5.0

New 340 GHz polarization observations reveal a pinched magnetic field in the high-mass protocluster W3 IRS5, with inferred total field strength ~1.6 mG and ongoing gravitational collapse.

  12. Dust destruction signals shock-accelerated outflows in the nearby active galaxy NGC 1068

    astro-ph.GA 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 4.0

Line ratio diagnostics in NGC 1068 indicate that AGN outflows are accelerated by shocks that destroy dust and compress gas.

  13. Clusters Hiding Under Millimeter Sources (CHUMS) I: Extreme CHUMS

    astro-ph.CO 2026-05 conditional novelty 4.0

AGN emission from central galaxies hides galaxy clusters in SZ surveys; CARMA-based subtraction recovers high-SNR detections in ACT maps for three specific clusters.
