We explore the extent to which a local string theory dynamics in anti-de Sitter space can be determined from its proposed Conformal Field Theory (CFT) description. Free fields in the bulk are constructed from the CFT operators, but difficulties are encountered when one attempts to incorporate interactions. We also discuss general features of black hole dynamics as seen from the CFT perspective. In particular, we argue that the singularity of AdS_3 black holes is resolved in the CFT description.

    hep-th 2025-12 conditional novelty 7.0

A Hamilton-Jacobi holographic renormalization scheme for scalars in Minkowski space yields a GKPW-style flat holography dictionary: source = scattering data, vev = renormalized momentum, with correlators matching the ...

  3. Subregion Complementarity in AdS/CFT

    hep-th 2023-09 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Subregion duality fails in AdS/CFT at leading large N, leading to the proposal of subregion complementarity allowing different CFT operators to describe one bulk subregion.

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0

A locality-based commutant argument shows that finite-N holographic CFTs lack the protected logical sector required for holographic quantum error correction, leaving only region-by-region entanglement wedge reconstruction.
