We discuss models for the cosmological dark sector in which the energy density of a scalar field approximates Einstein's cosmological constant and the scalar field value determines the dark matter particle mass by a Yukawa coupling. A model with one dark matter family can be adjusted so the observational constraints on the cosmological parameters are close to but different from what is predicted by the Lambda CDM model. This may be a useful aid to judging how tightly the cosmological parameters are constrained by the new generation of cosmological tests that depend on the theory of structure formation. In a model with two families of dark matter particles the scalar field may be locked to near zero mass for one family. This can suppress the long-range scalar force in the dark sector and eliminate evolution of the effective cosmological constant and the mass of the nonrelativistic dark matter particles, making the model close to Lambda CDM, until the particle number density becomes low enough to allow the scalar field to evolve. This is a useful example of the possibility for complexity in the dark sector.

  1. Constraining interacting dark energy models with black hole superradiance

    astro-ph.CO 2025-11 unverdicted novelty 7.0 of 10

    astro-ph.CO 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 6.0 of 10

N-body simulations of IDE with Q=ξHρ_x show scale-dependent deviations in the matter power spectrum, density morphology, and halo abundance that standard ΛCDM-calibrated prescriptions cannot reproduce.

  3. A microphysically inspired approach to dark matter-dark energy interactions: first bounds on dark-sector scattering cross sections

    astro-ph.CO 2026-01 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

A microphysically motivated Q∝ρ² dark-sector interaction is constrained by cosmological data, giving upper limits A<7.6×10⁻²⁵, B<0.048, and H₀=67.71±0.65 km/s/Mpc.

  4. Deviations from the von Laue condition: Implications for the on-shell Lagrangian of particles and fluids

    gr-qc 2025-02 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

Deviations from the von Laue condition inside a particle are bounded by its outer energy fraction, so fluid on-shell Lagrangians are nearly equal to the stress-tensor trace except at extreme densities.

  5. The cosmology of long range Yukawa interactions in general backgrounds

    hep-th 2026-06 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Generalization of scalar-fermion Yukawa systems in constant-EOS cosmologies identifies scaling regime with constant energy density ratio from approximate scale invariance and asymptotic regime recovering bare mass.

  6. Scalarization of dark matter stars

    gr-qc 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Scalarization occurs across most of the parameter space for negative coupling parameter β_d in self-interacting dark matter stars, over a broader range than in conventional neutron stars.

  7. Generalizing the CPL Parametrization through Dark Sector Interaction

    astro-ph.CO 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 5.0 of 10

Generalized interacting dark energy models with constant or dynamical couplings yield analytical density expressions but are not preferred over LambdaCDM by Bayesian evidence from DESI, Pantheon+, and CMB data.

  8. Model-independent late-universe measurements of $H_0$ and $\Omega_K$ with the parametrization based on cosmic age-improved inverse distance ladder

    astro-ph.CO 2025-10 conditional novelty 5.0 of 10

A cosmic-age-based inverse distance ladder with DESI DR2, DESY5, SGL, CC and GRB data gives H0=71.59±0.94 km/s/Mpc and ΩK=0.001±0.038.

  9. The Status of Single Scalar Field Dark Energy

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.5 of 10

Cosmological data can constrain only a handful of EFT parameters for single-scalar dark energy; extended models show modest preference over Λ but remain underdetermined and challenged by fifth forces and screening.

    astro-ph.CO 2026-07 conditional novelty 4.5 of 10

SdSDE dark energy yields a ~0.16–0.21 eV positive neutrino-mass preference with DESI+ACT data, but χ² strongly favors extended ΛCDM and the shift is likely compensation.
