We review the conformal field theory approach to entanglement entropy. We show how to apply these methods to the calculation of the entanglement entropy of a single interval, and the generalization to different situations such as finite size, systems with boundaries, and the case of several disjoint intervals. We discuss the behaviour away from the critical point and the spectrum of the reduced density matrix. Quantum quenches, as paradigms of non-equilibrium situations, are also considered.

  1. Entanglement Revivals and Scrambling for Evaporating Black Holes

    hep-th 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Increasing black hole scrambling time in JT and RST evaporating geometries suppresses and eliminates late-time entanglement revivals in 2d CFT mutual information for disjoint intervals, interpolating between quasipart...

  2. Crosscap Defects

    hep-th 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 7.0

Crosscap defects from Z2 spacetime quotients in CFTs yield new crossing equations and O(N) model examples without displacement or tilt operators, forming defect conformal manifolds lacking exactly marginal operators.

  3. Entanglement islands, fuzzballs and stretched horizons

    hep-th 2026-05 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Fuzzball models with stretched horizons modify or eliminate entanglement islands depending on boundary conditions and cap geometry, producing information paradox analogues in some cases.

  4. Entanglement Revivals and Scrambling for Evaporating Black Holes

    hep-th 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0

Black hole scrambling suppresses and eventually eliminates late-time entanglement revivals in CFT mutual information for disjoint intervals, with spikes vanishing when interval lengths become exponential in the scramb...

  5. Large-c BCFT Entanglement Entropy with Deformed Boundaries from Emergent JT Gravity

    hep-th 2026-04 unverdicted novelty 6.0

At large central charge, BCFT von Neumann entropy with deformed boundaries is reproduced by island entropy in an emergent JT gravity setup with transparent boundary conditions set by the deformation.
